Summer beauty essentials

Summer beauty essentials

I don't need much beauty wise in the summer, when I am on holiday.

As soon as I start getting a tan, I use a lot less makeup on my face. My morning routine is reduced to a thick layer of moisturizer, Kiehl's Super Multi-Corrective Cream with SPF 30. I never wash my face in the morning, since Joëlle Ciocco, the super-famous Paris facialist, told me that it was a very bad idea and would make my skin age much quicker.

At the beach, I apply an SPF 50 on my face and an SPF 30 on my body, both from the Soltan range from Boots. I used to be very lazy about applying sunscreen, but the growing amount of freckles on my face warned me that it wasn't a very clever move.

Mary-Lou Manizer

After my shower, I use the Ambre Solaire After Sun all over, from head to toe. If I put a bit of makeup on in the evening, it is basically down to three products : a brown eye pencil, a touch of highlighter, the Mary-Lou Manizer from The Balm or a NARS Albatross, and a touch of lipstick or lip balm.

Like most French girls, I am a big advocate of "less is more" when it comes to makeup - unlike my fellow Irish women, who are big, big make-up fans - but it is even more the case in the summer.

Lait Crème Concentré

Before bed, I cleanse my face with Kiehl's Face Wash, a very gentle product that doesn't dehydrates the skin, and I use Embryolisse Lait Crème Concentré, a classic that never disappoints.

Lastly, I try and drink as much as possible over the summer - and not only rosé...
